JELL Skin Series, Part Five

Nothing beats a great foundation when it comes to a flawless makeup look and although that may be true we’re not referring to the foundation you’re probably thinking about. We’re talking skin, darlings, and the importance of skin maintenance. A great canvas can mean an exponential difference to the look of your makeup, which is why we’re dedicating this month’s series of blogs toward the health and upkeep of the ol’ epidermis.

Bioelectric creams.

This sounds out there, we know, but there have been insane breakthroughs in skin science recently and bioelectric creams are one of them. When your skin tissue is damaged, it creates an electric current that enables repair and collagen building. By simulating injured cells, these electrically charged creams are believed to return the same results without the risk.

Peptides.

Peptide based treatments are great for those with sensitive skin but are beneficial to all skin types. Look for the words “amino acid peptides” in your skin creams and makeup. Similar to the effects of retinol, peptides boost collagen and elastin production but are even gentler to the skin itself. This won’t replace your cleanser but it most definitely is a great addition to your skin care routine.

JELL Skin Series, Part Three

SPF. Or Sun Protection Factor.

The glorious sun. It looks phenomenal on us, doesn’t it? Except for that little ol’ annoyance of sun damage. Eek! Sun accelerates the effects of aging and distorts and damages our skin cells. Also…melanoma, another naughty word.
